The Ingrid Sweater Man is worked from the top down in a knit and purl texture pattern. First, the back yoke is worked back and forth and the sloping shoulders are shaped using short rows. Then stitches are picked up and knitted for the shoulder sections, which are worked separately and then joined to form the front yoke. The front and back yoke are joined at the underarms to form the body, which is worked straight down in the round. The sleeves are knitted in the round from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the armholes. A rib neck edge is worked, folded double and knitted together. The Ingrid Sweater Man is worked in a texture pattern, which consists of three different pattern sections.

The measurements for the finished garment are on the front page of the pattern. Before beginning your project, measure yourself to determine which size to knit. For example, if you measures 103 cm [40½ inches] around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body) you should knit a size L. A size L sweater has a bust circumference of 128 cm [50½ inches] which in the given example would give you 25 cm [9¾ inches] of positive ease.
